In line with the motto “Is your Beer a Star? Prove it!”, the European Beer Star is once
again inviting breweries to take part this year. The registration for this year’s edition of
the renowned beer competition is open until July 24.
High internationality at the European Beer Star
“We are particularly pleased to have entries from Greenland and the Faroe Islands
for the first time. This shows that the European Beer Star is one of the most
international beer competitions,” says a delighted Stefan Stang, Managing Director of
Private Brauereien Bayern.
In fact, on average around two thirds of the entries to the European Beer Star do not
come from Germany. Despite the highly international character of the competition,
the German brewing industry still accounts for the majority of competitors.
The participating breweries come from all over the world, and the organizers are
expecting entries from almost 50 countries this year. “We are proud that the European Beer Star is not only known in every corner of the beer world map, but also has a high status among breweries worldwide,” says Stefan Stang.
Expert tasting again in Nuremberg
As last year, the expert tasting will once again take place this year at the Exhibition Center in Nuremberg. The panel of international beer experts will meet there from September 18 to 20 to taste and evaluate the submitted beer samples purely according to sensory criteria. This is a blind tasting, which means that the beers to be tasted are anonymous and completely unknown to the judges. In the 75 categories of the competition, only the best three beers per category are awarded the coveted gold, silver and bronze medals.
“In addition to the evaluation, each beer submitted is described by our expert jury in
the form of a flavor profile. The participating breweries can then use this for their quality assurance and benchmarking,” says Kilian Kittl, Project Manager of European Beer Star.
Future Award enters its third round
After two successful editions, the European Beer Star Future Award is entering its third round this year. Participants in the European Beer Star can also take part in the Future Award free of charge. This year, special attention will be paid to the topic of rechnical innovations to reduce primary energy consumption. The technical innovations implemented in the companies will not only be evaluated as part of the Future Award. Rather, the aim is to encourage the brewing industry in general to actively develop solutions that are not only ecologically sustainable but also economically advantageous.
Festive award ceremony during BrauBeviale
On November 27 during the trade fair BrauBeviale in Nuremberg, the successful
breweries will receive their awards. More than 220 awards will be presented to their
rightful owners at a festive awards ceremony. This will be followed by the exclusive
Winners’ Night, where numerous winning beers of the European Beer Star 2024 can
be tasted in a stylish atmosphere.
